MAJ Victor A. Thornton (Ret) was elected president of the United States Army Black Aviation Association (USABAA) in 2006 and currently serves in this position. He is a retired Army Aviator and serves on the board of the International Black Aerospace Council as one of the member organization president’s. He is a Viet Nam Veteran who served with the 1st Air Calvary Division. He also served as unit commander for the 111th Aviation Battalion, Attack Helicopter – AH64 Apache, Florida Army National Guard.
Vic is a member of the National Board of Realtors, the Northern Virginia Board of Realtors, is active with the 1st Tee Golf Association and has worked as a volunteer for the American Heart Association for the past 4 years. He is a retired National Account Manager with AT&T/Lucent Technologies after 21 years service.
His focus is to promote the organization’s mission and objectives relating to enhancing youth opportunities as aviation professionals.
CW4 William C. Thomas was elected VP of the US Army Black Aviator Association (USABAA) in 2006 and currently serves in that position. A two tour Vietnam Vet, the first tour with the Big Red One, the second with 14th Transportation BN. Division, Task Force (Special Operations), Fort Campbell, KY and Executive Officer 158th Aviation Company Fort Campbell, KY.
He has a MBA from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University with other key aviation education training from Department of Transportation Safety Institute Aeronautical Center Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Basic and Advanced aircraft Accident Investigation Course and the University of Southern California, Institute of Aerospace Safety Management Los Angeles, California Aviation Safety Officers Course.
He has served civil professional organizations in the following ways: Army Aviation Center Federal Credit Union - Vice Chairman 4yrs/ Board Member 8 yrs. The Lions Club - 3X President, Chairman, in Daleville, AL, The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) - Board Member State Level 4yrs, and The Southeast Alabama Regional Planning & Development commission (SEARP&CO) 8yrs
CW-4 Carl Burhanan joined USABAA at its inaugural meeting on 22 June 1983. He is a retired Master Army Aviator and served as a Presidential Aircraft Commander for Presidents Johnson, Nixon and Ford. He served in the Korean War in 1951 and the Viet Nam War in 1966.
Carl is a member of the National Petroleum Council and is the Vice President of the Board of Directors of the USO. He owns and operates three companies and serves on the Board of Directors of three others.
Carl has served as Treasurer of USABAA for the past fifteen years.
